Day 1 - New Orleans
Fly from the UK to New Orleans, collect your car on arrival at the airport and head to your downtown hotel.
Spend the day exploring New Orleans with a visit to the French Quarter district of the city. Here Jackson Square is home to the iconic St Louis Cathedral, the Cabildo, (previously a city hall) and the Presbytere. Take a walk along Bourborn Street, well known for its bars and vibrant night life. Day 3 - New Orleans - Plantation Country (60 miles)
The Plantation Country of Louisiana is located within easy driving distance of the city, under an hour's drive. Here you'll discover nine plantation homes. It's possible to explore a couple in a full day, and at each home, the guided tours are highly recommended to discover the full history behind each.

Make a visit to Baton Rouge to visit the Old Louisiana State Capitol as well as the Old Governor’s Mansion. Enjoy a fun adventure in the Plantation Country by going on a swamp tour on a small air boat through the bayous for a chance to see gators as well as many species of birds.
Day 5 - Plantation Country - Natchitoches (186 miles)
Travelling north through the state of Louisiana, Natchitoches, the oldest settlement in Louisiana; visit the old Creole town houses and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. There are plenty of boutique shops to meander through too.
Travel south through Louisiana to Lake Charles, a gaming town and the home of the Creole Nature Trail National Scenic Byway. We recommend spending a half day exploring this All American Road and one of the oldest scenic byways in the country. Here visit one or more of the wildlife refuges. On the byway, there is the opportunity to see up to 400 bird species.
Day 7 - Lake Charles - Lafayette (75 miles)
Journey into Lafayette, the 'Capital of French Louisiana', where you can learn about the Acadians and Cajuns and soak up the culture. In the town of St Martinville, visit the Catholic Church founded by the Acadians. Vermionville is a worth a visit to discover how life was on the Bayou, with costumed actors depicting the history.
Day 8 - Lafayette - New Orleans (136 miles)
Arriving back in New Orleans, depart for your onward journey to the UK or extend your stay in the city.
