Vista Verde Ranch is tucked away in the incomparable Elk River Valley in Rocky Mountain high country. This luxurious sanctuary is a 540 acre natural wonderland for adults and children alike, with a capacity of 45 guests. Vista Verde is a resort ranch offering an all inclusive experience in Colorado.
The ranch offers an excellent riding program for both beginners and advanced riders alike. From daily clinics to rides on trails and an indoor heated arena, there is a great range of horse riding experiences on offer. The food at Vista Verde has been prepared by trained chefs and is a particular treat, you can enjoy anything from cookouts to gourmet dinners. A stay at the ranch includes wine, beer and sodas and evening entertainment which could be a barn dance, pro rodeo or musical entertainers.
These three rooms are situated above the Main Lodge and are ensuites with a small sitting area.These rooms are most suited for compact travellers or singles. Both the Cabins and Lodge Rooms have the following amenities; a snack bar, a fridge with complimentary drinks, coffee machine, hair dryer, robes and wireless internet. There are no phones or televisions in the rooms.
There are 9 unique cabins with a range of bedrooms from one to three. Each cabin is furnished with a sitting area, wood burning stove and outdoor hot tub.
The ranch is open in the winter and summer. Summer and Autumn ranch stays take place from 04 June until 12 October 2017. Summer & Autumn stays run from Sunday to Sunday with a minimum stay of 7 nights. The Winter & Spring programme offers 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 night packages.
An extensive riding programme is offered at Vista Verde which includes in depth instruction and clinics, cattle drives and adventurous rides in the lush Alpine setting. On most days, morning and afternoon trail rides are offered as well as an early morning breakfast ride and evening dinner ride once a week. Each ride has a small number of people and you are often grouped depending on your ability. There are opportunities for advanced and fast rides which are not nose to tail. A daily clinic is offered for both novices and experts which could focus on anything from basic horsemanship to cattle. Family rides are also encouraged.
The ranch owns 90 quarter horses, one of which you will be paired with for your stay.
Included in your stay is use of the swimming pool, guided or half day hikes, guided mountain biking on the trails and in the terrain park, use of Jamis mountain bikes, guided fly fishing with equipment and instruction, twice weekly rock climbing, river rafting and kayaking, weekly photograph workshop, weekly cooking classes and wine tasting, transportation to and from Steamboat Springs for visits and evening entertainment. At an additional cost, the ranch also offers massages and hot air ballooning.
There is also a comprehensive programme for both kids, suited to ages 6 and over, and teens to keep entertained and get involved in ranch life. The children's program takes place daily from 9:30am - 12pm and 2 - 4pm. Breakfast and lunch as a family and there are some family dinner nights and some with just the children. Activities include riding in the arena and on the trial, riding for ice cream, the low ropes course, scavenger hunts, panning for gold and visiting the foals. There are specific activities for teenagers.
The ranch is ideally situated only 45 minutes from the lively town of Steamboat Springs which is well worth a visit. Incorporate Vista Verde into a larger itinerary in Colorado, perhaps visiting Denver, Colorado Springs, Vail and the Rocky Mountain National Park.
