C Lazy U Ranch is one of Colorado's premier luxury guest ranches and has been operating since 1919. The ranch offers riding for all levels of horsemanship, as well as a comprehensive programme for children from the ages of 4 years plus an extensive list of non-riding adventures and activities. Set in Colorado's Rocky Mountains near to Willow Creek Reservoir, C Lazy U Ranch is only a two hour scenic drive from Denver, traversing the Continental Divide at Berthoud Pass.
Your C Lazy U Ranch wrangler will pair you with one of over 180 horses, making sure the horse is perfect for you and your riding ability, whether its your first time on horseback or you are a more accomplished rider. Your week at C Lazy U Ranch would include morning, afternoon and all day trail riding, the opportunity to partake in cattle drives during the summer months and a weekly Shodeo where guests of all ages get to show off their riding skills.
The ranch offers an extensive list of activities during the summer for those that do not ride or to fill in your days when you are not on horseback. Try your skills at archery, attempting to hit the bulls eye on traditional targets or three dimensional targets, or enjoy complimentary fly or lure fishing at the ranch pond or on Willow Creek. If you wish to explore some of the 8,500 acres of wilderness on foot there is an extensive trail system for all levels of hiking, join a guided hike and learn more about the Rocky Mountain wildflowers and landscape. Other activities include mountain biking, paddle boating on the pond, tennis, swimming pool or for an additional fee you can try clay pigeon shooting, take a challenging ropes course and zip line or have a night family glamping experience in a scenic remote location.
Set on the banks of the bubbling Willow Creek is the Lazy You Spa, a full service six tent spa, of which two of the massage tents are suspended over the river and feature glass floors. Enjoy traditional sp treatments or a relaxing moonlit 'Cowboy Soak' in copper tubs overlooking the mountains.
Most of the 40 accommodations feature stone fireplaces, there are a choice of individual rooms or full private cabins, all of which are decorated in typical western dude ranch style. The one to three bedroom cabins are the perfect choice for families where the children's bedrooms come with twin or bunk beds. Meals are served family style so you have the opportunity to form friendships with other guests. Breakfast is normally served in the main ranch dining room, a la carte and buffet, during the summer months a Woodsie Cookout Breakfast is served on Friday mornings, where bacon, sausage, local trout and pancakes are cooked fresh on the outdoor griddle and served by a roaring fire. Lunches are hearty buffets served by the pool or in the Patio House Kitchen while dinners are a more formal experience in the main lodge.
C Lazy U Ranch is one of only a few Colorado Ranches that remains open year-round, and offer different packages and activities during Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. During the summer season that runs from 12 June to 21 August 2018 there is a 7 night minimum stay and arrivals must be on a Sunday.
C Lazy U Ranch is suitable for all levels of horsemanship. C Lazy U is also a working ranch so there will be the opportunity to go on a cattle drive during the summer season. Regular trail rides are scheduled daily except for Sunday, on some days there are two rides scheduled.
The ranch has over 180 horses allowing the wrangler to pair you with a horse perfect for your riding ability. You will be allocated a horse for your entire stay so you can form a bond with your horse and refine your riding skills throughout the week.
There are many activities available at C Lazy U Ranch, including fly fishing, archery, mountain biking, basketball, volleyball, tennis, ropes course, zip lining, spa treatments (additional cost) & clay pigeon shooting (additional cost)
C Lazy U Ranch caters very well for families and offer a range of age appropriate programmes. Cowpokes caters to children aged 3 - 5 years with activities ranging from pony rides, dinosaur egg hunts, story time, picnics, gold-panning, hay rides and talent shows. Mustangs is for children aged 6 - 12 years, with activities including horseback rides, cookouts, family rides, paddle boating, pool parties and archery. Teens can go on supervised mountain explorations on horseback, overnight camp outs, make use of the ropes course and zip line and enjoy optional off ranch activities such as white water rafting and attend a local rodeo.
Adults and children have separate riding programmes however there will be opportunities for families to ride together.
