Situated in the western part of the state, approximately five hours from Denver, and close to the borders of Utah, is the city of Grand Junction. Here visit the Colorado National Monument to see tall monoliths and beautiful canyon scenery, driving along Rim Rock Drive. This area of Colorado is also known for its wineries, visits can be made in Grand Junction and the town of Palisade.
Towards the direction of Denver, approximately an hour and 20 minutes away, is Glenwood Springs, where the well-known hot springs pool lies. Aside from this, families in particular love a visit to the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.
Nearby to Glenwood Springs are the towns of Vail and Aspen. Whilst in winter these locations are transformed into winter skiing hotspots, both can be visited in the summer where in Aspen the character of the town bursts to life with festivals.
Situated an hour and a half from Grand Junction is the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park where it is possible to see the towering canyon walls and go on hikes by the South Rim. Please check for road closures in the park before you travel and follow the park precautions including against bears. There are ranger guided activities on offer here too.
