Not far from the majestic beauty of Algonquin Provincial Park, the Canadian town of Huntsville is well worth a stop on any tour of Ontario. Here you’ll find plenty of restaurants and a keen sense of the region’s heritage.
Take a trip through the scenic surrounds on the the Portage Flyer steam train, with a pleasant return trip of just 30 minutes along the Muskoka River. You can also see what life was like for early European settlers in the region at the Pioneer Village. There are plenty of parks, beaches and walking trails to enjoy too, with the Canadian wilderness at hand in every direction. Of course, while you’re here you should be sure to taste some of the area’s famed maple syrup, or even tap your own at a local farm. If you’re here in April, there’s even the Muskoka Maple Festival to enjoy!
