Great Bear Rainforest is located in the north and central coastal area of British Columbia. The largest temperate rainforest in the world, 85% of the forest is protected and is home to the elusive Kermode (Spirit) bear, Grizzly and Black Bears and many other species of animal such as wolves and cougars.
The area is accessed by air from Vancouver, with flights to Bella Bella and Bella Coola or by BC Ferries from Port Hardy and Prince Rupert. Various 3 - 7 night wildlife packages are available between June & October each year in search of bears from lodges that include Nimmo Bay, Spirit Bear Lodge and Tweedsmuir Park Lodge.
During the summer season heli-hiking, heli-fishing and heli-skiing packages are available from some lodges or from Bella Coola.
