This grand hotel is a landmark of Arequipa’s historic centre, housed in the 1794 former Mint House.
The building itself has been deemed a national historic monument, and a meticulous remodel in 2008 restored it back to its original grandeur, with high vaulted ceilings and colonial courtyards. The elegant Cocina Alma restaurant and bar provide refreshments and a breakfast buffet for guests.
The large suites have Republican-era flavour in the traditional building, and 36 new rooms occupy a modern adjunct structure situated off an interior patio.
Arrival airport: Arequipa or reached overland from a variety of destinations.
