Day 1 - UK – Bogota
Catch your overnight direct flight from London Heathrow to Bogota with Avianca. 
Day 2 - Bogota
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. On an afternoon city tour admire great architectural and cultural heritage, made up of old mansions and Spanish colonial buildings within the historical centre. Pass the famous Plaza de Bolivar, stop at the cathedral, and visit the Botero Museum - a colonial house filled with works of art and the Gold Museum. Finish by heading up Monserrate Mountain for a bird’s eye view of Bogota.

Day 3 - Villa de Leyva
Today you’ll head 3-4 hours’ drive from Bogota to Villa de Leyva for an overnight stay. With its whitewashed buildings and cobblestoned streets, it’s considered to be one of the most beautiful colonial towns in the country. Stop at the monumental architectural masterpiece of the Zipaquira salt cathedral en route. Vast underground tunnels allow you to explore this amazing feat of engineering.

Day 4 - Coffee Region
Head back to Bogota, stopping en route at the ancient pre-Columbian archaeological site of El Infiernito and El Fosil, where you can visit a museum dedicated to the giant skeleton of a Kronosaurus! From Bogota, you will fly to Pereira and spend the next three nights inside Colombia’s ‘coffee triangle’. Fertile rolling green hills, charming coffee plantations and picturesque towns make up this UNESCO world heritage site.

Day 5 - Coffee Region
Coffee is one of Colombia’s biggest exports, and the beautiful countryside is dotted with traditional coffee farms. Visiting today you will be able to see the process that goes into producing some of the world’s best coffee. Learn about the preparation, toasting and characteristics of quality, not forgetting a taste of the different varieties of course!

Day 6 - Coffee Region
A highlight of the region is the verdant Cocora Valley, home to the tallest wax palm trees in the world. Cloud forests rich in flora and fauna wait to be explored as well as traditional villages such as Salento or Filandia. The Los Nevados National Park boasts snow-capped volcanic peaks, dense forest and the Laguna del Otún. Your Destination Expert can suggest and arrange a variety of optional excursions.

Day 7 - Coffee Region – Cartagena
Cartagena is one of the most charming colonial cities in Latin America. Cobblestoned walkways, ornate churches, flower-filled balconies and colonial mansions make up the UNESCO listed historic centre. Via Bogota, fly to Cartagena and spend three nights in this enchanting city. Filled with restaurants, boutiques and shady plazas, Cartagena is the perfect place to while away a few moments or perhaps a few days!

Day 8 - Cartagena
Explore the city today on a private walking tour. Head to the Conventa de la Popa, which overlooks Cartagena. Visit the fortress Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas – this monumental fortress is an impressive sight, and you can take a tour of the complex tunnel system that kept this structure safe from several sieges.

Day 9 - Cartagena
Your Destination Expert can arrange an optional excursion to the beautiful Rosario Islands. Here you can snorkel in the azure water, sample some local fried fish or just while away a few hours on the pristine sands. Alternatively, spend some more time exploring the walled city of Cartagena - perhaps browse the art and crafts for sale at Las Bóvedas, take a sunset cruise or visit the National Aviary, the largest in the Americas.

Day 10 - Cartagena – Tayrona National Park
Travel by road to Tayrona National Park, and check-in to Ecohabs Tayrona, your accommodation for the next three nights; rustic yet comfortable split level bungalows set on the hillside overlooking the ocean are located within the National Park on the Cañaveral Beach.

Day 11 - Tayrona National Park
Spend the next two days exploring the park, spread over a beautiful stretch of Colombia’s Caribbean coastline. There are a number of picturesque beaches fringed by palm trees to enjoy, but you’ll also find hills, rainforest and a range of wildlife here.

Day 12 - Tayrona National Park
Aside from hiking and wandering the walking trails, visitors to the park can ride along scenic horseback riding routes. The beaches are the main attraction of the park, and whether you choose to have a game of football, dip your toes in the ocean or simply spend a few hours soaking up the sun on the sand.

Day 13 - Santa Marta – UK
Travel back to Santa Marta, fly to Bogota and board your overnight international flight back to the UK.
