Set in a secluded corner of Sri Lanka's south coast and engulfed by acres of unspoilt, rolling wilderness, Uga Chena Huts is a fantastic balance of off-the-beaten-track location and high-end hotel comfort.
Accommodation comprises just 14 guest cabins, which are 'huts' in name only! Domed exteriors are thatched with local materials and barely interupt the landscape, while within you'll find a luxurious, private pavillion complete with living room, bedroom, en suite bathroom and outdoor decking. Each cabin enjoys its own plunge pool and is appointed with rich, natural materials evoking a 'safari' theme. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in light and uninterrupted views of the nature on your doorstep. Walk a few minutes in any direction from this comfortable base and you'll find an idyllic, natural setting in which to loose yourself.
Dining takes place at the Basses, which looks out onto the beach and Indian Ocean. The restaurant is named after the nearby Great and Little Basses reefs, off which blue and humpback whales congregate and dolphins can be regularly spotted. Fresh seafood features highly on the menu, or perhaps you'd prefer a wood-fired pizza? Whatever you choose to eat, you can do so wherever you wish; on the beach, by the lagoon, at the restaurant or in the privacy of your own pavilion.
The special and secluded feel here makes Chena Huts a great choice for a Sri Lanka honeymoon.
