Full of truly incredible natural sights and plenty of unique cultural experiences, Finland is a destination like no other.
Spot the iconic northern lights and explore some of the 188,000 lakes that are scattered over the country’s surface. Discover lush, dense forests, home to a rich array of wildlife – from around 1,500 Brown bears to the extremely rare Saimaa ringed seal. Summers in Finland are characterised by the incredible night-time sun; in the most northern reaches of the country above the Arctic Circle the sun can stay above the horizon for 70 days in a row. June and July are the best months for experiencing this unique natural phenomenon. In deep winter the sun sets around 4pm.
Take to the slopes and discover a skiing experience unlike other European ski resorts, gliding across thick blankets of perfect, pure snow. If skiing’s not your thing, there are a variety of other snow sports to try, including snowshoeing, ice-fishing, snowmobile riding and husky or reindeer riding.
Of course, no discussion of Finland would be complete without mentioning her most famous son – Santa Claus! Lapland is of course the home of Father Christmas, and here you can touch pure white snow, ride with Santa’s reindeer and meet the man himself!
