As its name suggests, this hilltop boutique hotel is based on a traditional clapboard boat shed, and incorporates this nautical theme into its light and airy décor, which often features oars and compasses. Within walking distance of Oneroa, Waiheke Island’s biggest village, the hotel is perfectly placed for exploring the many beaches, vineyards and restaurants in the area.
Dining here is a delight, and meals showcase extremely fresh and local produce, some grown in the hotel’s own gardens. Breakfast is included as part of your stay, and features an extensive spread of pastries and fruits, along with a smoothie bar and a sweet and savoury breakfast du jour. A daily lunch menu is also served, along with a seasonal dinner menu. An extensive range of spa treatments and therapies are offered in the privacy of guest suites.
A range of accommodation options are available to suit every guest, each offering air conditioning, mini-bar, complimentary treats of evening port and other beverages, and a range of ‘beach gear’, including sun hats, sun screen and an umbrella. Boatshed rooms are beach-hut style accommodation with either one super king-size or two twin beds, a private deck and sun-loungers; the Bridge Room includes either one super king-size or two twin beds and overlooks the golden beach; the Lighthouse Room is a romantic tower hideaway with a queen-size bedroom; while Bungalow suites include a traditional porch and external courtyard area, freestanding bath and sleep two in either twin beds or one super king-size.
As the hotel is located at the top of a hill, it may not be suitable for young children.
