Canada is a country made for exploring, and as the world witnessed recently when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited with their children on a Royal Tour, there’s a wealth of experiences to be had in this diverse land.
The Royal Tour showcased some of Canada’s
many highlights, so with that in mind, here’s a few to inspire your own Canadian holiday…
The royals ventured to the remote city of Whitehorse in Yukon
on their tour of Canada, where they visited the MacBride Museum of Yukon History and The Healing Totem.
We suggest spending a few days here to enjoy the fantastic natural landscape, as well as Canada’s highest peak, Mount Logan. This is also a wonderful place to see the Northern Lights, with one of the longest ‘seasons’ for witnessing the spectacular Aurora Borealis.
The Great Bear Rainforest
Arriving into Bella Bella, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge took an aerial tour of the magnificent Great Bear Rainforest, which is home to Kermode, or ‘spirit’ bears, as well as a boat tour of McLoughlin Bay.
This very special natural landscape boasts an incredible array of wildlife alongside bears, so we suggest a stay at the luxurious Nimmo Bay Wilderness Resort to ensure you see them all! Only accessible by water or air, there is a superb selection of experiences on offer at the resort to enhance your wilderness adventure; from guided hikes to whale watching excursions.
Among the many adventures the royals enjoyed on their tour was sailing from Ogden Point into Victoria’s Inner Harbour on a tall ship; a great way to see this city - which is on Vancouver Island - from the water.
On our suggested itinerary is a whale watching excursion from Victoria Harbour, where from April to October you’re likely to see orcas, grey whales, seals, porpoises and minke whales. While staying in this glorious city a trip to the Butchart Gardens is also a ‘must’, which are stunning the whole year through.
