A journey through Western Ghats

High above the Malabar Coast, this magnificent range of hills provides a cool escape from the hot plains below. Designed for nature lovers, this tour captures the natural beauty of Western Ghats, as well as exploring the rich culture of the city of Mysore and the temples of Belur and Halebid.

Experience princely living in a Maharaja's palace at Lalitha Mahal Palace, just outside the royal city of Mysore. Visit the majestic Mysore Palace and Jaganmohan Palace, now converted into an art gallery, and enjoy an evening stroll through the flower market.

With lush green valleys, the Coorg plantations are a splendid area for walking and bird watching. A tour of the plantation or the Tibetan golden monastery are the main attractions.

Fly to Bangalore
Fly from home to Bangalore.
Day 2

Arrive Bangalore
Arrive Bangalore and you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for an overnight. Bangalore is known as the Garden city, with lot of gardens and is often referred to as the Music, Pub and IT capital of India.
The name of the city has been recently changed to Bengaluru and is a year round pleasant weather destination in India. The city has some exceptional restaurants and cafes and plenty of options for entertainment.

Bangalore - Chikmangalur
Today after breakfast you will drive to Chikmangalur via Shravanabelagola.
Chikmangalur is known as the "land of the rain". Amazing for nature and wildlife enthusiasts and to experience the Indian religious beliefs. The region is all hills, rivers and forests and a pilgrimage centre. Shravanabelagola is one of the most important pilgrimage spots for those who follow Jainism.
Chikmangalur is well known for its coffee production and beautiful surroundings. It is also home to the country's two coffee research institutes. Perfect to base yourself here for two nights to explore the area around.
You could sign up for a bean to cup tour.. Roast your own coffee beans, grind them and make your own cup of coffee!

Belur and Halebid
After breakfast, you will visit two remote beautiful temple sites of Belur and Halebid. The fine 18th century temples are beautifully decorated with intricate carvings.

Chikmangalur - Mysore
Morning after breakfast, you will drive to the capital of the Wadiyar dynasty. Mysore is India's richest states and famous of it's sandalwood, lustrous silk and beautifully carved rosewood artefacts. Stay for two nights to explore the city.

Morning you will proceed for sightseeing. One of the best times to visit Mysore is during Dusshera festivals. Enjoy your visit to the majestic Maharaja’s palace, walk through the flower markets of Mysore.
Later you can visit Srirangapatna where you will visit the remains of the fort and the Hindu temples as well as the summer palace of Tipu Sultan.

Drive to Ooty
Morning after breakfast, you will drive to Ooty which is the Queen of Hill Stations.
Once the home to the British, this beautiful countryside destination used to be the British Summer Capital. Ooty is made up of beautiful rolling hills and valleys covered with pine and eucalyptus forests, and tea and coffee plantations.

Ooty Hill Station
One of the best ways to explore the Nilgiris is by a steam engine train. Today you will drive to the Mettupalayam station and hop on to a toy train and travel uphill to Ooty.
If you are keen on other experiences you could also enjoy a visit to the old British-Era churches or attend a Sunday service church if you happened to be there on a Sunday.

Drive to Kabini
Drive to Kabini and spend two nights at Orange County Kabini. At the Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka you may have the opportunity to spot tigers, elephants and bison on an afternoon game viewing excursion.

Drive to Coorg
Drive to the beautiful forested region of Coorg. Stay for two nights at Vivanta by Taj - Madikeri. Vivanta by Taj Madikheri is gloriously set within 180 acres of living rainforest and is the perfect place to relax and appreciate the surroundings.

Visit a coffee plantation and explore the local area including the Tibetan Golden Monestery.

Drive to Bekal
Drive to Bekal to spend 3 nights on the beach at Vivanti by Taj - Bekal. Situated in Northern Kerala, this is a relatively undiscovered jewel. Set within the backwaters but with access to the beach, Vivanta by Taj Bekal is a wonderful addition to the Taj portfolio.

Enjoy the day unwinding on a beautiful stretch of beach amongst the local fishing community.

Fly to London
Transfer to Calicut airport for your flight back to the UK.
