Just a short note to thank you for the service and organisation you provided for Katie's trip to the Far East with her friend. It seemed that everything went like clockwork and there were certainly some surprises along the way for her, especially 'happy birthday Katie 21', depicted on her bed in rose petals when she arrived at the hotel in Borneo. She certainly had a fantastic adventure and certainly I don't think it would have been as enjoyable had we tried to organise it all ourselves (I'll stick to booking flights and hotels separately to Tenerife). Your promptness in not only replying to our initial enquiries right through to the confirmation and beyond was exemplary and I will recommend you to anyone that I know who will be venturing to that part of the world in the future.

Fab holiday, brilliant guides and driver - especially in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.Hotels were all superb. Anantara room is a little dated but still luxurious. Banyan tree and Sala Samui hotels were fabulous. Badly bitten by mosqitos at Anantara in the early evening as situated by the River Ping. Bangkok is huge and bustling and we were glad to leave after three nights although we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there. Flights and transfers all ran like clockwork and we were picked up and dropped off on time all the way through the holiday. Sala Samui staff and hotel and setting were all brilliant. Our concerns about the trouble in Bangkok amounted to nothing and we were sad to learn how their tourism trade has suffered as a consequence.The only downside we encountered was the Half day trip of Kho Samui which was a complete and utter exploitation of trying to get us to buy the usual tat from grotty shops. The places we were taken to where like a one horse town in baking heat where we were left to trundle up and down the shops in the baking sun, the beaches we passed were filthy, the waterfall full of drunken backpackers and the visit to the Golden Budda was again a selling opportunity by the guide. Finally, who really wants to see a mummified monk with raybans and false teeth - I rest my case! So all in all apart from the trip above we give the whole holiday 100% and thank Ricky Coates once again for compiling a super holiday for us

The Shangri-La Resort was of a very good/excellent standard. The Datai superseded it. It’s in a league of its own. We will definitely return. Service was exceptional. Also thanks to Ricky for all the advice and help with this holiday and the Arabia holiday in Nov 2013.

Excellent resort and service. We stayed in the most basic room (Resort Pavillion), and on arrival asked to have a look at one of the Ocean Villas in case we wanted to consider an upgrade. In the event, we decided to stay with our original booking at the rooms was much larger and brighter and there is no real benefit to the Ocean Villa as the beach front is not sandy and everyone makes use of the communal pool area anyway.The resort is quite spread out, but there is a butler service which is more that happy to drive you around in golf buggies, but once you have got your bearings the walk is quite enjoyable.Activities on offer are limited and largely resort-based, it appears that guests have not enjoyed exploring the local area in the past and so these activities are not actively promoted. However, we greatly enjoyed the Krabi evening weekend market (6-9pm Fri-Sun) and a trip into Aonang to go to an alternative local restaurant. We also day-tripped to Railey Beach but would not recommend it unless people went before 10am or after 2pm as the tourist hoards were fairly unbearable.All in all, an excellence trip with smooth transfers and excellent service and food. The resort has three different restaurants under a French executive chef. Prices for food are high, but so is the quality and hygiene. The infinity pool is enormous and commands amazing views out to sea - a real pleasure!

Thought you would like some feedback, of course just our personal thoughts:
Majestic Hotel – superb couldn’t fault it, never had such comfy beds and the breakfast probably the best we’ve had in any hotel.
Shangri La – Again a wonderful hotel although have to say starting to look a bit tired in places and compared to the Majestic would “just” give it 5 stars. We thought the club lounge was the saving grace, but is ready for some new furniture!
Disappointed in Kota Kinabalu, but of a dump really, but the one night in the lodge was superb, a brilliant experience, I could have done with another night there, but I would have been on my own afraid to say. Joan loved the boat trips and the wildlife but not the basic accommodation.
The people running the place were really good, in fact a big thank you to all your ground agents, all went very smoothly.
Mandarin Oriental – well what can I say – we were upgraded to a bay view room – again excellent room, staggering breakfast range, brilliant stay. 3 days was long enough in Singapore, there’s a limit to the number of malls a man can take!
Time to start saving up again, we’ll be in touch.

Firstly the service I have received from start to finish has been great, thankyou Ricky and the team. The KL hotel was excellent. The Penang hotel, I chose, was not as good, a bit tired looking and noisy, so i moved to the Rasa Sarang which was far, far better. All pick ups and transfers we really good on time and the drivers were great. My only adverse comment was the day trip to Langkawi 1- the boat trip was basically 6 hours round trip, if i had appreciated that before i would not have booked it 2- the food at the restaurant was really poor and was mostly western food, change the restaurant would be my advice. Nobody in our group ate the food. Nevertheless my partner and I had a great holiday, spent Xmas with my son in KL and had a fantastic time and you at Western & Oriental provided a great service - Thankyou very very much

Great service as ever from W&O! We had a lovely time - transfers were on time as always and the on-island rep was very helpful and attentive. This was not the 1st time we have used W&O and certainly will not be the last!
