ATMOSPHERIC PHNOM PENH

Regarded as one of the most beautiful of the French-built cities of Indo-China, the capital city of Phnom Penh has a wonderful colonial charm. Its stunning architecture provides a striking backdrop for bustling street cafés and notable temples, including Wat Phnom, whose history dates back to 1372 and the origins of the city. The Tuol Sleng Museum provides a poignant insight into Cambodia's more recent past.

SIEM REAP AND THE LOST CITY OF ANGKOR

A short flight takes you to the market town of Siem Reap, gateway to the spectacular ruins of Angkor. This famous 'lost city' of the Khmers is one of the most astounding archaeological sites in Asia; over one hundred temples are all that remains of a once much larger religious centre dating back to the 9th century. With the exception of the Nile Valley, this concentration of ruins is unsurpassed anywhere else in the world.

BREATHTAKING TEMPLES

Most of Angkor was abandoned in the 15th century and the temples were gradually cloaked by forest. Today, the breathtaking temples of Angkor Wat and Banteay Srei as well as the fortified royal city Angkor Thom are part of an enormous heritage site that is sure one of mankind�s greatest feats of construction. Its remarkable setting is best seen at Ta Prohm, here the jungle has not been cleared and it looks much like it would have appeared when discovered by the European explorers.
