This is an exciting and unusual twin centre holiday that combines two island gems, one situated in the marine filled freshwaters of Lake Malawi and the other in the warm tropical seawaters of the Indian Ocean.
On Likoma Island in the northeast of Lake Malawi, the luxurious Kaya Mawa is a romantic and imaginative lodge in total sympathy with its beautiful setting. Getting here is a real pleasure, with the one hour light plane flight sweeping low over the rift valley escarpment and travelling up the lake coastline before reaching the island.
Spend leisurely days lapping up the sun or exploring Lake Malawi and its stunning marine life. With the greatest variety of indigenous fish of any lake in the world, there will be plenty to see whether snorkelling or diving. Alternatively take a canoe and find a quiet stretch of sandy shore to picnic under the shade of palms.
Equally atmospheric is the tiny resort of Benguerra Lodge, set on idyllic Benguerra Island off the coast of Mozambique. Lying in the Indian Ocean and within the renowned Bazaruto Archipelago, it is the perfect hideaway, a place of exclusive tranquillity. Day 1: London/Johannesburg
Depart London for Johannesburg by overnight flight.
Day 2 - 5: Malawi/Likoma Island
Arrive at Johannesburg and connect with the flight to Lilongwe. On arrival you will be met and taken to your flight to Likoma Island on Lake Malawi. Stay here at Kaya Mawa Lodge for 4 nights. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Johannesburg
Fly back to Lilongwe and connect with the onward flight to Johannesburg. On arrival transfer to the Westcliff Hotel for overnight stay. (B)
Day 7 - 11: Mozambique
Fly Johannesburg to Vilanculos on the Mozambique coast. On arrival you will be met and taken to the jetty for the boat transfer to Benguerra Island and the Benguerra Lodge. Stay Benguerra Lodge for 5 nights. (B,L,D)
Day 12: Johannesburg/London
Transfer to Vilanculos by boat transfer, and then fly back to Johannesburg to connect with your international return flight to London.
