BABY ELEPHANTS TO GREET YOU

Visit the famous Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage as you travel from colonial Colombo to Habarana in the heart of the Cultural Triangle.

RECUMBENT BUDDHAS - HABARANA

From Habarana you will explore the sights of the interior. The extraordinary Rock Fortress of Sigiriya soaring high above the plains; amazing Buddha sculptures at the Gal Vihara complex at Polonnaruwa and see Anuradhapura, one of the greatest monastic cities of the ancient world. These great monuments echo the reigns of previous rulers.

LAKES, TEMPLES AND KANDY

On the way to Kandy, stop by at Dambulla to visit the Rock Temple, a spice garden and a batik factory. See the painted caves and inscriptions at the Jambukolalena vihara. To the beautiful city of Kandy, the last independent kingdom of the Singhalese kings. Explore the sacred Temple of the Tooth; relax by the picturesque lake and in the evening be entranced by a cultural dance performance.

HEAD FOR THE HILLS - NUWARA ELIYA

Make sure you visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peredeniya, 150 acres of the most amazing flowers, trees and landscaped gardens will entrance you. As you drive to Nuwara Eliya, you will travel through tea plantations stopping to visit a tea factory. This picturesque hill resort, once the favourite town of British planters, is charming to explore.

AND BACK TO COLOMBO

A beautiful drive back down through the hill country and the lowlands to coastal Colombo and your flight back to London.
