Suggested Itinerary featuring the Golden Chariot train journey

BANGALORE

Before boarding the luxury Golden Chariot spend the day sightseeing the city of Bangalore. Visit the beautiful botanical gardens of Lal Bagh, the Nandi Bull Temple, an impressive building of the Secretariat before continuing on to the Palace of Tipu Sultan - one of the three summer palaces built by the two Mysore rulers.

MYSORE AND NAGARHOLE NATIONAL PARK

Once onboard the Golden Chariot settle into your en-suite cabin and begin your luxurious journey. On arrival at Mysore you will be driven to Nagarhole National Park for a wonderful game safari. You will also have a day to visit the beautiful city of Mysore. Visit the Maharaja's Palace, the Zoological Garden, Mysore Arts and Crafts centre and Chamundi Temple.

HALEBID AND BELUR

The train then takes you on to Hassan from where you are driven through the lush tropical landscapes to Halebid and Belur. Built in the 12th and 13th century in the baroque style, these stone carved temples are truly magnificent. You will also visit Sravanabelagola, an ancient Jain pilgrimage centre where a monolithic statue looks down from the top of a hill.

AIHOLE AND PATTDAKAL

Onwards to Gadag. From here you are taken to Aihole - famous as the cradle of Indian temple architecture - with over 125 temples. Also visit Pattadakal which has 10 major temples representing early Chalukyan architecture and Badami, once the second capital of the Chalukya dynasty where cave temples are hewn out of solid rocks.

ARRIVE IN GOA

Warm hospitality and a lush and beautiful coastline await your arrival in Goa at the end of your journey onboard the Golden Chariot. Explore the Indo-Portuguese heritage of this unique Indian state and relax on the beach at Calangute. Your final night onboard the Golden Chariot takes you back to Bangalore where you will have the afternoon at leisure and a night at the Taj Westend before your flight home. Alternatively remain in Goa for an additional 5 nights, enjoying the beautiful beaches before taking a flight from Goa to Mumbai to connect with your flight from Mumbai to London.
