Luxury holidays in Zambia

Inevitably it is dramatic Victoria Falls, and the mighty Zambezi River that feeds them, that draw the first attention. Many miles upriver you are aware of the falls as the spray rises from the boiling cauldron of water to form a cloud, a phenomenon described by tribesmen in the 1800s as 'The smoke that thunders'.

Forming Zambia's southern border, the Zambezi is now home to a number of atmospheric and luxurious riverside camps. But it is, perhaps, further north in the South Luangwa National Park that we find 'real Africa', a pristine wilderness where the concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its ox bow lagoons is amongst the most intense in Africa.
