Three Bars Guest Ranch is located in a truly beautiful part of the world in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, within a few hours drive of both Banff National Park and Glacier National Park and just 15 minutes from Cranbrook. Opened in 1991, this family run guest ranch has a maximum capacity of 40 guests. The ranch welcomes singles, families and couples and has a kids program.
Accommodation is a choice of one, two or three bedroom log cabins, all with private facilities and handmade furniture. Some accommodations have two queen beds, some have one and the ranch house accommodation is a three bed cabin, ideal for a large family. The majority of meals at Three Bars are served buffet style and there are also cookouts, Mexican meals and weekly breakfast rides.
When is the ranch open and what day does riding begin?
Three Bars is open from 25 May until 04 October. The All Inclusive Summer Adventure Package is available from 29 June until 30 August. There is a 6 night, 5 day package with Sunday starts or a 3 night, 2 day package with Wednesday or Sunday arrivals throughout the year. There are no activities on a Saturday or Sunday.
What are the types of rides on offer and how often will I ride?
Discuss your day of riding the night before with the wrangler. Rides available include family rides, adult rides, kid's rides, walking rides, and fast rides. There are morning and afternoon rides and an all day and a breakfast ride once a week. Facilities include an indoor riding arena and two outdoor riding arenas. Enjoy riding through 75,000 acres of beautiful land.
About the horses
Three Bars owns 110 horses which include 80 guest horses, 20 performance horses, brood mares and new foals. There is a horse to guest ration of almost 2-1 and you will use the horse that has been paired to you, for the whole of your stay.
What else can I do at the ranch?
Other activities included in your stay are guided hiking, a guided rafting trip on Mary's River (only in the summer) and a full evening program. Facilities at the ranch include an indoor heated pool, outdoor hot tub, mountain bikes, a tennis court, television in the main lodge and a trap shooting range. Fly fishing takes place in Mary's River and guided day trips are available. The evening program may feature fire engine games with the ranch's own fire truck, a reining horse demo, a casino night, volleyball and a campfire night.
Is the ranch suited to children?
Three Bars is more suited to children 6 years and older as this is the minimum age to participate in activities. Kids can either enjoy activities from the kids program or family activities which may include family rides, family hikes and family river rafting. There is an outside play area and petting zoo too.
What other attractions are there in the area?
Combine a stay at Three Bars with a stay in Banff and Lake Louise a few hours away. Or why not combine Three Bars with a wider itinerary visiting Calgary and Vancouver.

How far in advance should I book my holiday?
Many customers are under the illusion that booking late secures the best prices. This is often not the case and it is advisable to book early especially if travelling in peak seasons such as Christmas, Easter or school holidays. Many hotels and airlines actually offer special “Early Booking Offers” so you are able to secure the best price early on.
I don’t know what board basis to book. Can I eat out locally, should I consider All Inclusive?
