  • Getting married at The Residence is the ultimate in romance and elegance. Brides enjoy a free stay too

Situated on the east coast, alongside a mile-long beach of immaculate white sand and fringed by tropical gardens, The Residence Mauritius is a wonderfully luxurious hotel with a refined and deliciously nostalgic décor.

The rooms and suites are all beautifully decorated and designed with a colonial feel, influenced by both Asia and Europe. A butler is assigned to each and will unpack your luggage, run a bath and take care of your laundry, if you so wish!

The hotel prides itself on its cuisine where native produce from the island is blended with a diversity of fine recipes from around the world offering a symphony of subtle aromas, tastes and colours which can be savoured in all of the hotel’s restaurants. A particular favourite is The Plantation which marries a spectacular oceanfront setting with an original approach to the freshest seafood and Creole cuisine.

In addition to the superb beachfront freeform swimming pool, there are plenty of water sports available including waterskiing and windsurfing. On land there are tennis courts and horse riding to enjoy. For children, the Planters Kids Club is just steps away from the beach and offers supervised fun ranging from snorkelling classes to face painting and pony rides. Specially designed meals are on offer to tempt even the pickiest of eaters and evening entertainment, plays, films and fairy tale activities will create lasting memories for the younger members of the family.

J Adams says:

I would like to thank Claire who booked our holiday to Mauritius where we stayed at The Residence. Claire recommended all-inclusive and her recommendations were perfect. The hotel is fantastic and the staff wonderful. The pick up from and to the airport were perfect. A BIG thank you to Claire!

Claire Kohler says:

Fantastic relaxing stay. Very attentive, kind service. Hotel and rooms were spotlessly clean, food consistent and varied. Service at times slow, but not a problem as we were on holiday. Super and flexible kids club, great pool, helpful beach and yacht club staff. Weather cool and windy at times, and cool at night but within my expectations. Thoroughly enjoyable break - thank you!

Graham McCormick says:

We recently returned from a holiday to Dubai and Mauritius and wanted to pass on our comments regarding our fantastic holiday experience.

We were somewhat wary of booking through your company as we had never been with you previously or known anyone who had either, however our slight concerns were soon dissipated as everything from the booking process, through to the arrival back at Heathrow was almost seamless and went without a hitch.

Emirates were a fine carrier to fly with and all flights were on time and well equipped very modern planes with very professional crews.

The airport transfers went very smoothly and the cars used for this purpose were of a very good standard.

The hotels in both resorts were the crowning glory and although somewhat different in style, they were both superb in their own way.

The staff, service and quality of food at the Residence in Mauritius was first class and the hotel could not do enough for you.

The experience at the Royal Mirage Palace in Dubai was stunning, with everything of the very highest standard and fine detail, one of the finest hotels we have stayed at anywhere in the world.

We will definitely stay at this hotel again, as again the service, quality and variety of food and quality of the bedrooms was exceptional.

I do hope that we can holiday with your company again and look forward to researching our next break.

This is our third visit to the hotel and we wouldn't go anywhere else. The staff, food and facilities are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble and returning guests always get a very warm welcome. I can't wait to return, hopefully next year.

How To Book

How do I talk to a specialist in Mauritius holidays?

We are happy to give you a call back to discuss your holiday at a convenient time for you or we welcome you to come to our office in central London to discuss your holiday in detail.

Why use our specialist service?

Our destination experts provide a personalised service to tailormake your dream holiday. Within our experienced team we have visited most of the properties we feature and will be able to give you expertise and specialist knowledge from our first hand experience. You will be offered a direct telephone number, so you are able to speak to the same specialist from the time you pick up the phone until your documents are sent out.

Do I have to travel on certain dates and only do the itineraries suggested?

No, we tailormake all our holidays and subject to availability you will be able to travel on any date. The itineraries and holidays on our website are for inspiration and are suggestions only, you can change any aspect according to your personal requirements and available spend.

How far in advance should I book my holiday?

Many customers are under the illusion that booking late secures the best prices. This is often not the case and it is advisable to book early especially if travelling in peak seasons such as Christmas, Easter or school holidays. Many hotels and airlines actually offer special “Early Booking Offers” so you are able to secure the best price early on.

I don’t know what board basis to book. Can I eat out locally, should I consider All Inclusive?

It's always a difficult decision to make before you travel. Call one of our destination experts, who will be happy to advise you on local restaurants and prices you can expect to pay in resort.

What can I do when I get there?

There are many excursions, activities and highlights that are not to be missed out on, whilst in the country. Please contact our experts for advise on whether to prebook these before travel.

What financial protection do you offer?

When booking through Western and Oriental, if your flight is delayed or cancelled due to bad weather or you have a problem in resort it is our responsibility you are taken care of. We offer a 24 hour emergency number to assist with any issues you may have in resort and all of our flight inclusive holidays are financially protected through ATOL bonding for your protection.

With its classic tropical climate, Mauritius is generally blessed with warm, sunny weather throughout the year; however, you may prefer to visit the island during the cooler, drier months of May to October, when it is not quite as humid. The South-East trade winds mean that generally twice as much rain falls in this area of the island at this time, so we recommend staying on the North West coast as they are protected by the mountains. Cyclones are possible between Novemeber and April.
