The luxury eco-conscious Siwash Lake Ranch is a boutique wilderness retreat that sits in the Cariboo Mountains, between the Coastal and Rocky Mountain ranges, surrounded by 80,000 acres of riding territory. Stays at Siwash Lake are inclusive of all meals (snacks, picnics, breakfast, lunch and a three course dinner), soft beverages, alcohol including wine, beer and spirits, guided and self-guided activities, Free Range Kids program for ages 4+ in the summer (please request at time of booking) and one massage per adult.
The property is so private that it cannot even be located on Google Maps! It is situated 20 miles east of 70 Mile House, access is by car from Kamloops (two hours) or is a pleasant 5 hour drive from Vancouver and a popular stopover on any Canada fly drive. A unique way of accessing the ranch is by float plane from Vancouver. This is quintessential cowboy country with rolling terrain, fir and pine woods and secluded back-country lakes. Run by a family as well as 16 members of staff, the ranch can accommodate 24 at maximum capacity.
Accommodations range from Ranch House Suites with original wooden beams, some with two bedrooms and offering lake views, the exclusive Cariboo Suite, located a short walk from the main ranch house and spanning the entire loft of a hand hewn log barn and featuring a separate lounge and bedroom. For those seeking a true cowboy experience without compromising on luxury, Siwash Lake Ranch offers spacious luxury safari tents set 200 feet apart from each other, the most private accommodation. Comprising two canvas clad rooms with a master bedroom and lounge, tie back the canvas doorways for sweeping views of the forest, meadows and lake from your king size bed. Other comforts include an en-suite bathroom, fireplace and sofa-bed. Dining is a real highlight here, start the day with a hearty Canadian breakfast; all food is grown on site aside from the seafood which is regional.
When is the ranch open and what day does riding begin?
The ranch is open from 1 June 30 September 2017. Riding begins on any day and there is a minimum night stay of 3 nights, although a stay of 5 nights is highly recommended to fully enjoy all the activities available. A 4 night minimum stay is required between 15 July - 25 August 2017.
What are the types of ride on offer and how often will I ride?
At Siwash Lake, every activity that you enjoy is accompanied by a private guide who will be on hand for the duration of your holiday. This means that every activity is extremely flexible. From the moment you meet your horse you are encouraged to be extremely hands on with it; grooming it and checking its hooves. The riding trails and length of the ride are completely up to you, this is truly a tailor-made ranch holiday. Picnic lunches can be provided for all day rides, sometimes with a cook out lunch - it's really up to you!
About the horses
A real working cattle ranch, Siwash Lake Ranch owns all of its 30 horses, most of which are Quarter horses.
What else can I do at the ranch?
Fill your day with as much or as little as you wish. All activities are accompanied by your personal guide, enjoy fly fishing on site in the lake or go on a safari, spot wildlife in its natural environment, mountain bike, hike to waterfalls or paddle board and canoe in Lake Siwash. Embark on a half day wilderness survival adventure where you will learn the basics of how to survive in the wilderness and also, try your hand at clay-pigeon shooting. One massage is included per adult in your stay, after which the spa menu is a la carte.
Is the ranch suited to children?
Siwash Lake welcomes children and encourages families to do activities and ride together. The night before, you'll plan your day with the owners of the ranch, and can choose what interests you. If your children do not fancy riding, they can enjoy other activities including arts and crafts. Children dine with their parents, it really is a family affair at Siwash Lake in the summer months! The ranch is probably more suited to 6 and 7 year olds upwards who can fully enjoy the activities on offer. Nanny services are available at an additional cost when requested in advance.

Siwash Lake is situated 5 hours from Vancouver, 6 hours from Jasper and 9 hours from Calgary.
In September, Siwash Lake is a children-free zone, a haven for adults and couples.

How far in advance should I book my holiday?
Many customers are under the illusion that booking late secures the best prices. This is often not the case and it is advisable to book early especially if travelling in peak seasons such as Christmas, Easter or school holidays. Many hotels and airlines actually offer special “Early Booking Offers” so you are able to secure the best price early on.
I don’t know what board basis to book. Can I eat out locally, should I consider All Inclusive?
