Angela Cook says:

The holiday was absolutely lovely and we felt thoroughly relaxed, in fact my partner agreed that this was our best Maldives trip.

We will do BA again, it is so much nicer getting there faster. As usual we were met in Male and then were able to not think about onward travel at all as it's all so well organized. We did get the earlier flight and so got to Park Hyatt at about 2pm (3pm island time).

The room was lovely and we had the pool too but they said they were unable to give us a sunset room. Once the butler had gone I went through the beach access to find there was no beach there (but rocks) so that meant no sitting in front of the villa as well as the sun gone in the afternoon. When I rang about it we were told we could use the loungers on the tip of the island by the pool and bar (not what I had expected at all). Then we also discovered the air con was not cooling the room, it was working but keeping the room at a balmy 27 degrees, I sleep with my window open in the winter in England so I was a bit uncomfortable. The butler said he would try to get us moved but not to be hopeful. We decided we had to not let this bother us and duly trudged to the opposite end of the island to sunbathe. Then on Gary's birthday we got a call saying there was a cancellation and we could have another pool villa on a part of the island with beach. I packed so quickly in case they changed their mind. The new room was located in my dream location and it was just brilliant and I did enjoy the rest of the holiday far more so that is a really important aspect for my holidays....sunset and beach outside the villa!

The all inclusive was fantastic. For once we completely relaxed with food and drink and it made a huge difference to how we felt on holiday. We didn't even touch the minibar! Cocktails were lovely and the bar staff really friendly. The food was delicious, best we've had. We didn't do the beach dinner either as we were happy in the restaurants, by the time we ate all the Chinese had gone and there were hardly any people around. Instead of the 3 hour reef exploration we had an hour guide tour on the house reef, brilliant!!!

I used the gym every day and although very small it was ok, a bit crowded some days as quite a few people like to keep up their fitness.

We didn't realize that only UK people had the all inclusive for a while and I felt quite sorry for the other people when I heard that. The only buffets were the theme nights, even breakfast was a la carte and really good.

All the staff on the island were friendly and approachable, willing to chat whenever they saw you. It is obviously managed really well and the General Manager was always visible which I don't think I have ever seen before.

Our departure was also well organized and our internal flight was a bit delayed which meant the Park Hyatt staff in Male were a bit stressed getting us to the BA check in, in fact we only had 20 mins in the lounge before boarding!!! I didn't realize how tight it all had been until I was changing my watch on the plane as when I had changed it from island time to Male time I hadn't been very accurate and given us an extra 15 mins.

So in summary Claire, the all inclusive will be an important feature on our Maldives hols as well as the sunset room and beach outside. Oh yes and the wifi was fast and good, I don't know why all the resorts can't offer it. Park Hyatt is the first resort we would happily revisit, although if you can come up with an equal alternative that would be good.

I'll be in touch re Mykonos at the end of the week as we have had to move the dates and also it's just Gary and me as the girls were sharing a small car and with Rebecca using it to get to work Hannah was very stranded when home from Uni so they negotiated not coming on holiday and having another small car instead. Luckily I knew someone selling one so they are both very happy now.

How far in advance should I book my holiday?
