Holidays in Anuradhapura
Built in the 4th century BC, Anuradhapura was one of the most important and extensive of Sri Lanka’s royal capitals. For over 1,000 years, kings ruled from palaces here; today it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and remains a devout holy city, considered sacred to the Buddhist world. The city’s grounds are dotted with unusual bell shaped dagobas that house Buddhist relics, some as large as 340 meters in circumference.
