Borneo Holidays

Holidays in Borneo

The wilds of Borneo are where expansive rainforest and unspoilt beaches merge alongside rugged mountains and some of the oldest cave systems on the planet. You can really lose yourself in nature on this fascinating island, a land where wildlife reigns supreme.

AT ONE WITH THE WILDLIFE
Many rare species call Borneo home, from the wild orangutans that swing through the jungle canopy, through to the Asian elephants, turtles and proboscis monkeys. Encounter these wonderful creatures in their natural habitat and witness the magic of the island’s epic biodiversity up close and personal.

OBSERVE WILD TURTLES
Both green and hawksbill turtles are native to the waters of the South China Sea. Take a trip to Turtle Island, a National Park designated to protect newly-laid eggs and hatchlings. Learn about the conservation programme and tour the island’s hatchery area.

RIDE THE KINABATANGAN
This 560km-long river meanders through the dense rainforest of eastern Borneo. Our favourite way to see the jungle and its inhabitants is from the river. Cruise downstream on a boat trip where you’ll spot proboscis monkeys, macaques, monitor lizards and pygmy elephants.

WHEN TO GET THE BEST OF BORNEO
Generally the best time to visit is between March and October, although being a tropical island, rain can come at anytime.
