There is nowhere in the world quite like Havana and a trip to Cuba wouldn't be complete without a few days exploring its cobbled streets. Crumbling yet elegant, exotic and vibrant, it has escaped the consumer driven trappings of chain restaurants and shopping malls and remains an open air museum lost in time. The old quarter of Havana dates from 1515 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It's centre has mainly been pedestrianised which makes it a pleasure to stroll around.A number of colonial houses have been sensitively converted into charming hotels with plenty of atmosphere and retaining many of the original features. All the hotels mentioned are located in the historic, old part of town. We have listed our favourites, but if you have a hotel in mind which does not appear please let us know.To plan your Havana holiday, call our Cuba specialists today for more information.
Tom Cloherty was so helpful and booked us a holiday to remember, it was really great & value for money as well, well worth upping our flight & 1st hotel.
Very nice holiday, transfers etc went smoothly, hotels fantastic all in all a very enjoyable holiday.
My husband and I were very pleased with the service we received from Western & Oriental. Everything seemed well organised and professionally handled. We had no problems with our transfer from the airport to the hotel in Havana and from Havana to Varadero. Our rep in Havana was also very pleasant and helpful. The only thing worth mentioning would be that we didn't seem to have anyone picking us up for our transfer back to the airport from Varadero. Luckily the hotel had booked us a complimentary taxi just in case, otherwise we may have been stuck! Other than that no complaints whatsoever!
the hotel in Havana was good. Great location and history, not to mention the views from the terrace. The Varadero hotel was great in that it was quiet, both hotel and nearest beach. It did feel like we paid for what we got and much more! The only drawback was that choice of food was a bit limited as I am a vegetarian. I didn't expect to be catered for, however it was difficult making myself understood in case there was something they could do. Cocktails were great, though! Our Cuba direct reps had met with us and were lovely, I think there may have been a confusion about pick-up to airport when returning. We were told to expect a coach at 5.15pm, however a taxi came for us at 4.15pm. We weren't too concerned, better early than late! He dropped us off at the airport, after an hours wait whilst we wondered why our flight hadn't even started to check-in, we found out we were in the wrong terminal! We didn't even know until then there was another terminal! I know these things happen, but it would be good to pass this onto the Cuba direct people to make sure everyone is clear about these things!PS. big thank you to Melissa Brooks, the agent who booked everything for us. She was patient and understanding through weeks of emailing!
Just a brief note to say that our holiday was a great success and the organisation worked perfectly. We were particularly grateful that Western & Oriental was able to get us into the Saratoga in Havana which was a good hotel with excellent service from the staff. All other hotels were excellent and airline connections worked well. You service was also first class.
It was a wonderful holiday, Western & Oriental did an incredible job. The hotels (Florida Hotel and Blau Varadero) were perfectly located with friendly staff and private transfers were prompt and very safe. It was brilliantly organised, thanks again!
Havana - the hotel was in a convenient location to walk about the city for sightseeing and restaurants. The hotel was beautiful and colonial style and the view from the rooftop was fantastic. The staff were very helpful. We were very pleased with the hotel. Varadero - the hotel was very beautiful with lovely grounds and beach. I had problems getting a vegetarian meal, most evening meals had salad or vegetable otherwise was pleased with the choice of the hotel. Thank you in helping with planning my family holiday to Cuba.
The support from the sales consultant and the paperwork provided were excellent. The tour operation in Cuba was excellent - very good guide and driver, who accommodated our requests. The tour was more full on than we expected with several quite long drives - we saw a lot but also spent a lot of time in the bus. The Sevilla had a nice ambience downstairs but rooms pretty basic, the Iberostar had very good rooms and good food and La Moka had nice rooms, gardens and location - food OK. Generally the food was better than our low expectations, only one really bad meal on the first day, otherwise quite well cooked but monotonous - but you don't go to Cuba for the food. Cocktails were generally spiffing! Overall we very much enjoyed the holiday.
We had an excellent holiday in Cuba. We were very pleased indeed with the service from Western & Oriental. All the flights and taxi transfers went very smoothly and the representative Giselle in Havana was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel we were booked in was changed on our arrival to the Central Park Hotel across the road, which was an upgrade, so it was no problem! It was a beautiful hotel, the service was friendly and the roof-top pool and the view were fantastic! Excellent location, within walking distance of all the main attractions and good restaurants and music venues.
The Breezes Jibacoa was also excellent and in a beautiful location on a quiet beach. We enjoyed the free tennis, watersports and dance lessons as well as great choice of food and fantastic shows every evening. Our stay in Vinales was also a highlight as it was a great opportunity to experience more of the Cuban life and the beautiful countryside, with visits to the St Tomas caves and a walk to tobacco and fruit farms. It was well worth organising the taxis in advance, with a Cuban company who knew the route and are used to the 'interesting' driving conditions, rather than hire a car, as it would have been extremely precarious! Thank you. We would highly recommend your company.
We had an excellent holiday in Cuba. Sally at Westen & Oriental was most helpful from start to finish and your representative in Cuba (Jose) was excellent and sorted out all our problems - mainly cancelled internal fights (!) - very efficiently. We would have no hesitation in using your company again and would like to thank Sally & Jose in particular for their help.
My wife and I booked a holiday through your old company Key2holidays.We holidayed in Cuba at the end of November 2011 and would like to express our thanks to your team who handed our initial enquiry and booking. The whole experience was a delight from start to finish and the way every part was stress free was great.
It is the second holiday we have booked through yourselves and will certainly not be the last.
Could you pass on our thanks to Peter and tell him "your man in Havana and Varadero (Jose) sends his regards".
