Three ways to enjoy the water in the Bahamas!

What's the key to a perfect holiday in the Bahamas? Well, for us, it's the beautiful blue waters that lap the shores of this magnificent archipelago. These islands and the fantastic hotels on them are surrounded by abundant ocean life, while on land there are plenty of beaches and pools to please everyone.

Of course, what makes the perfect holiday is different for everyone, so we've compiled this little guide which details three ways to enjoy the waters of this beautiful Caribbean destination, with tips for both families and those in search of a more 'grown-up' scene. Enjoy!

Three ways to enjoy the water in the Bahamas! : Section 2

1. Diving in the deep blue sea

The Bahamas are a well-known hotspot for scuba diving and the waters around the islands are renowned for breathtaking underwater seascapes and grand shipwrecks. One particular feature is the 'blue holes'; natural circular formation in the ocean floor, perfect for the experienced diver to explore! Those staying at Sandals resorts on the islands can enjoy unlimited complimentary diving as part of their Luxury Included® package, with lessons from qualified instructors available at an additional cost.

If scuba's not your thing, or you're travelling with children who are too young to learn, then how about a snorkelling expedition instead? At Atlantis Paradise Island those aged 8 and over can join in snorkelling adventures though the 'Ruins Lagoon', which is teaming with sea life, or along the coast at Cove Beach.

2. Swimming with dolphins

Swimming with dolphins is a pretty universal must-do on a Bahamas holiday. The sociable, aquatic mammals are famously intelligent and encountering them in their natural habitat is something you'll never forget.

At Atlantis Paradise Island's Dolphin Cay, you can book dolphin interactions in the shallows or out in the deep, depending on your preference. Honeymooners might like to enjoy a special treat, with a private dolphin interaction for two, complimentary for those with an Atlantis Honeymoon Pass.

3. Splash-about fun

Do you see a pattern emerging? We told you it was all about the water!

You don't have to be a kid to enjoy the incredible Aquaventure waterpark. Feel the adrenaline rush as you plunge a 60-foot near-vertical drop into a the serpent slide, a clear tunnel that twists and turns through a shark-filled lagoon! And if that sounds a bit full-on, meander down the lazy river or laze by the pool.

Of course, the Bahamas can bring the party around the pool in a distinctly grown-up style too!  With the mainland USA so close, many resorts have a spring-break, Miami beach feel about them. This is certainly true at Cain at the Cove; an adult-only poolside club, where a DJ plays next to a 9,000 square-foot ultra-pool which has two separate, elevated infinity pools at each end! More understated, but no less glamorous, the new infinity-edge pool at One&Only Ocean Club was unveiled late last year and lucky guests here can dine al fresco at the waters edge. Bliss.
