Known as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’, Austin is the vibrant capital of Texas. With over 200 live music venues, many in lively Sixth Street, the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, Blanton Art Museum and shopping, in the boutiques of South Congress Avenue, there’s so much going on in Austin. Visit at the US Grand Prix time to see the fast cars go by at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas.

Further into The Hill Country experience the Cowboy Capital of the World at Bandera visiting the Frontier Times Museum and watching western entertainment here on Saturdays from March to November; purchase your western outfits too! Dixie Dude and Mayan Dude guest ranches are both located nearby to Bandera. Whilst to the south of Austin, in San Antonio there is shopping, golf courses and culture awaiting you; be sure to visit The Alamo and The Riverwalk.

‘Big Things Happen Here’, Dallas has developed in the last decade from being a business centre to a shopping, dining and arts mecca for a fantastic USA city break holiday or a part of a larger fly drive holiday. It has the largest urban arts district in the USA, 14 entertainment districts, a Fair Park with eight museums and frequent new restaurant openings. Fantastic shopping can be enjoyed in the Galleria Dallas, the flagship Neiman Marcus store and in several outlets. Catch a sports game at the AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys, and the American Airlines Centre for basketball and hockey games, both venues also regularly play host to the biggest names in music. A treat for all ages, make a visit to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science where there are plenty of interactive areas.

For a taste of nightlife Dallas style head to Deep Ellum, often described as a little New Orleans or Southern SoHo, it is an emerging hip area and filled with music spots (including blues, jazz and alternate music) as well as shops and galleries. Nearby Fort Worth is the ‘City of Cowboys and Culture’, visit the Sundance Square where there are 35 blocks of restaurants and music clubs and it’s also home to Billy Bob’s Texas, the largest honky-tonk establishment in the world. See the daily cattle run in the Fort Worth Stockyards. For a true cowboy experience, visit the Wildcatter Ranch in Graham (the Panhandle Plains region) only two hours from Fort Worth where you can enjoy daily riding year round.

Set inland on the Gulf Coast, Houston is a cultural and sports hub offering the fantastic Space Center and Museum of Natural Science as well as Galleria, the US’s 4th largest shopping mall.
