Having worked in travel for nearly two decades, I have seen a wide variety of destinations both on personal holidays and work trips. For me it's about picking a destination and hotel that will stay with you forever and be a trip of a lifetime.
In the last year, I have travelled to Malaysia & Singapore as well as Vietnam. Vietnam was an amazing trip and my highlight would have to be the cruise on Halong Bay - a must for any first time visitor! I also visited Hoi An and explored this town on foot and stayed at the Banyan Tree Lang Co which had just opened. In Malaysia & Singapore, I enjoyed the best of nature and a bustling city. I stayed at the Tanjong Jara where I took a jungle walk in the unspoilt surroundings and shopped in the local market.
Two of my most memorable experiences were in Borneo where I saw orangutans in their natural habitat and also a herd of pygmy elephants crossing the river.
Bali for me has it all - the combination of luxurious and fantastic accommodations with the friendliness of the Balinese is fantastic. The Samaya Ubud is a particularly special property with scenic views and extremely attentive service.
I have a couple! The Residence Mauritius is unforgettable with its beachfront location and excellent service. I love returning to the Madinat Jumeirah Al Qasr when I visit Dubai thanks to its access to great facilities and location. In Thailand, also one of my favourite destinations, I love the Anantara Rasananda Villa Resort & Spa in Koh Phangan where the private plunge pools are a real treat. It's an easy walk into the local village too!
